About Us
Our company, which was established as a sole proprietorship by Mehmet Zahid Ünaldı in 1975, was converted into a joint-stock company in 1985. In its first year of operation, the company was involved in the nationwide marketing of liquid foliar fertilizers imported by a chemical company based in Istanbul. This marketing activity was transformed into production in 1976.
In 1977, the production of a 100% domestic liquid foliar fertilizer called FOSKANA began.
By 1980, our company was meeting 600 tons of the nationwide annual demand of 1500 tons for liquid foliar fertilizer.
In 1982, the first Turkish Chelated Trace Element Fertilizer was produced. The product, launched under the brand name FOLIAR, resulted in a decrease of around 15-17% in imports due to its 100% domestic origin and low cost.
In 1983, with the contribution of Ege University, the exploration of peat deposits began throughout Turkey. The first commercially valuable deposits were found in the Bolu-Yeniçağa region, and the first mining license was obtained. This was the year when Turkey first encountered peat. The construction of turf football fields according to European standards began after 1983, using the peat introduced to the market by our company. Fields made from traditional methods of cutting and removing turf from meadows, mixed with organic material such as animal manure, could not last even for one season, while fields made with peat were observed to have a lifespan of 6-7 seasons. Since its introduction, peat has become the primary medium used for germinating hybrid seeds. The presence of peat in Turkey has led to significant developments in seedling, sapling, and hybrid seed production.
In the 1990s, as a result of the development of agriculture and protected cultivation in our country, drip irrigation and fertilization systems started to be established, leading to new fertilizer needs. On August 31, 1990, based on the recommendations and controls of Ege University’s Faculty of Agriculture (201-5363), our company initiated the production of Turkey’s first drip irrigation fertilizer. The production of domestic drip irrigation fertilizers served as a guide for many other companies and contributed to the end of external dependence.
In 1994, due to the development of urbanization, tourism, and sports facilities, there was an increased need for turf areas. As a result, a commercial brand of turf fertilizer called GH GRASS, specially formulated for turf areas, was introduced to the market. This product became the first domestic turf fertilizer in Turkey.
Since then, our company has continued its research and development (R&D) efforts, taking into account environmental awareness and precision agriculture, and has strived to develop products that improve soil structure.
Until 1997, the benefits of humic acids as soil regulators for plant growth were studied, and based on the positive results obtained, a decision was made to import a product identified in Germany.
In 1999, a partnership was established with the manufacturing company in Germany.
In 2000, considering the needs of turf areas, a commercial product containing 50% organic matter, called BIO GRASS, was introduced to the market.
Based on ongoing research, the idea of coating chemical fertilizers with organic matter emerged, and R&D efforts were redirected accordingly. These efforts yielded quick results, leading to the development of an organic matter-coated chemical fertilizer named BIOCOMP.
